Pick Your Path

Since nearly everything is open and the headliners cluster into three corners, the whole strategy comes down to choosing a path that matches what your group cares about. Each path knocks out two attractions during the window. Trying to combine them, one Star Wars ride and one thrill ride, for example, means crossing the park mid-window and usually costs you the second ride. Pick a lane and commit to it. Families With Kids

Head to Slinky Dog Dash first, as long as your kids are tall enough for it and actually want to ride. It has the longest reliable standby wait in the park and it is one of the hardest Lightning Lanes to get, so riding it early removes your single biggest scheduling headache for the day.

The height requirement is 38 inches, which clears most kids who are tall enough for a coaster at all. From Slinky, walk a few steps to Toy Story Mania and ride that next. Both live in Toy Story Land, so this path is the least walking of the three and the most forgiving with young children.

Thrill Seekers

Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster sit right next to each other on Sunset Boulevard, which makes them the cleanest two-for-one in the park. Head straight there and ride both. You can usually get both done inside the window if you go directly.

Since the two are steps apart, ride them together in the morning and take Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster off your plate while you can. One warning: the single rider line at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is not the time saver it is at other rides. It often runs as long as the standby queue, so do not bank on it as a later fallback. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster keeps its 48-inch requirement, so this is a grown-up and older-kid path.

Star Wars Junkies

Go to Rise of the Resistance first, then Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Both are in Galaxy’s Edge a short walk apart. Rise is the biggest single payoff in the park and, for many people, the best attraction Disney has ever built. Its standby line climbs fast and stays high all day, so riding it early is a major win. The tradeoff is reliability.

Rise is complex and has more downtime than anything else in the park. On a good morning it often starts loading first, which makes it a strong opener. On a bad morning it opens late, and you will want Smugglers Run as your reliable second either way. Millennium Falcon added a new Mandalorian mission, which makes it more worth your time than it used to be, and at 38 inches it is family-accessible if your Star Wars fans are on the younger side.

The Lightning Lane Moves That Match Your Path

Your rope-drop path decides which rides you still need to cover with Lightning Lane, and the logic is straightforward.

If you are not taking the Star Wars path, buy the Lightning Lane Single Pass for Rise of the Resistance. You are not riding it during early entry, its standby is punishing all day, and it sits on Single Pass rather than the standard tiers, so it is a separate purchase regardless. This applies to both the families and the thrill seekers.

If you are not taking the families path, grab a Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Slinky Dog Dash if you can get one. Slinky has the worst standby in the park and the Multi Pass for it is hard to secure, so book it early. This applies to the thrill seekers and the Star Wars fans.

Put those together and the thrill seekers are the group buying the most line access, a Rise Single Pass plus a Slinky Multi Pass, because their morning path skips both. That is worth knowing before you are surprised by the total. One caution on the tiers themselves: Hollywood Studios has been the one park where the Single Pass structure is actively shifting, and which rides require a separate Single Pass has changed during 2026. When to Arrive for Hollywood Studios Early Park Entry

Here is where most people give back the advantage they woke up early to get. Getting into the park is not the same as being ready to ride.

Work backward from the posted opening time. Assume early entry starts 30 minutes before that. Aim to be fully through security about 50 minutes before the official opening time. For a 9:00 a.m. opening with an 8:30 a.m. early entry, that means clearing security around 8:10 a.m., which leaves you time to reach your path’s cluster and be ready when the window starts. Build in a little margin for a late bus or a stroller that needs unfolding.

The Star Wars path is the one to watch, not because you need to arrive earlier, but because Rise of the Resistance carries the most downtime. If it opens late, ride Millennium Falcon first and circle back.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway holds manageable waits throughout the day and has no height requirement, so it is a mid-afternoon ride, not a rope-drop priority. Star Tours rarely draws a long line anymore and can be picked up whenever you pass it. And once your path’s two headliners are done, the first 60 to 90 minutes after official opening still deliver short waits on everything else, so keep moving and clean up a third and fourth ride before the park fills in.
